“Please be cautious of where you go to do surgery, and look at the results.

I really do feel that my procedure was rushed through and am dissatisfied with the results thus far. I see virtually NO difference in certain areas… I had a total of 600cc of fat removed from 3 different areas which was not enough to reduce the fat 80-90% as promised. I should have been much more cautious and looked at the results of others before making my decision. I’ve been told to wait until 6 months post-op to really determine my results and to start the discussion of revision but I have had other procedures done in which despite swelling, I could see the difference. This is very disheartening because I made an investment with an understanding that I would receive the results promised to me during my consultation, and I know for sure that I have to go through this healing process all over again. I feel as though doctors sometimes may forget how much trust their patients are putting into them, as they do surgeries day in and day out. I also did not appreciate not being able to meet my doctor until the day before my surgery. Other than this, the nursing and reception staff are very kind and professional, I am very appreciative for them.”

“I really like your staff. I am an RN and do feel that I was under medicated for the procedure, even after I told the surgeon I had a hight tolerance for meds . Post op I called twice I was not taken seriously and came to my post op appt with a complication a large seroma in my abdomen, very painful post. op meds were not adequate for my complication and I suffered needlessly. I would never have an awake procedure there again because of what I experienced but I do love your staff. Thank you

“They are nice people and got good price for everything that I wanted to get done. However it's been 2 weeks since my surgery and I was expecting to see smaller results right away because I got lipo in my upper and lower abdomen and my waist and my hips and then an abex alternative tummy tuck that alot being done on my stomach but didn't see much of a change at all and still weighed the same ... Now that it's been 2 weeks after my surgery the only thing that has changed is I no longer have a a big muffin top belly but still the same thickness around my stomach. But they say it's because I'm swollen still which I really am swollen so I can't say that I'm unhappy yet. I can't wait to see full results after 6 months I hope it really is from being swollen I paid over 13 thousand to be smaller and shaped better with loose skin removed. And expect to see a big change for that much money. I just don't see much of a change yet so I'm trying to be patient on my results ... I'm eating healthy and portion size and drinking lots of water and I'm getting my exercise done daily so that way I will see better results when I'm fully healed.. they did say that if I don't gain any weight and if there's more fat that needs to be removed they will do it for free only if I don't gain weight which I won't.. so we will see if they even check to see if I need more fat removed or not. I hope they don't just tell people that just to get us to go through them for lipo /abex. The staff there are very nice and the doctor is very nice to he did surgery on my daughters head when she was 6 months old and did a great job so I'm gonna trust what he says about not seeing results right away and I'll start to see results slowly .. so I'll follow up in 6 months with final result on here and hopefully give 5 stars .. I would love to give 5 stars because they were very nice. I just was bummed that I didn't see any results right away when others have see results right away with less work done to there stomach and even with all the swelling they still seen smaller results v/s me looking bigger to not much of a difference results and still fit the same in all my clothes with more stuff done more fat taken out of my stomach makes me feel like I paid over 13 thousand for not much of a difference results I know every ones body is different but with that much fat removal plus abex u would think u would see smaller results right away. I just have to be patient and wait till I'm healed and no longer swollen before I say if I'm satisfied or not

Update it's 09/05/23 I'm not satisfied with my results at all there's no Difference much at all except now I have a long scar over my stomach I wish I got what my sister got was an actual tummy tuck . It cost basically the same as the alternative tummy tuck. I was so unsatisfied I didn't even go to my last 6 month appointment I didn't see any point in going. Didn't want to waist my time ..good thing I only got my tummy done I was trying to find a place to do all the things I wanted done my tummy was just 1 area but now I'm glad I know I don't want to get anything else done here .. such little results for so much money”

“I am not new to the world of cosmetic surgey. I have had a tummy tuck along with other cosmetic procedures . With that said I was very hesitant to go into Sono Bello . I didn’t want to deal with a high pressure sales person and I didn’t understand how a “consultant” could know what I really needed. Much to my surprise I was very wrong. I met with Shab , she was extremely knowledgeable and told me she has worked with her doctors for over 10 years. Based on her knowledge and candor I trusted her immensely. She walked me through the entire procedure, what would happen before, day or and after. Her honesty was rather refreshing. The most impressive part is that she didn’t even pressure. She assessed my areas and was honest! Then she gave me a quote and when I said I needed to think about it she even encouraged that! Needless to say I called a few hours later and scheduled my procedure . I had my procedure with Dr. Caton and she was wonderful. Everything she told me lined up with what Shab had told me. My trust in this clinic kept growing. Day of procedure the nurse, Bethany was fantastic! Everything went so smoothly and although I’m only a few weeks out from my surgey I’m thrilled. I dont know how the doc did because whatever meds they gave me before i went in knocked me out and i can only remeber a few minutes of the surgery (not mad at that) However, the Dimond Plus recovery package is the biggest waist of money ever. $899 for them to give you two compression garmets you can get for $30. And the fallow up appointment was asking a few questions, taking my weight and some pictures.. I am not in any pain. It's sore in the morning but some light stretching and everything is fine. It does itch. And I have some numb areas. So besides the rip off of the recovery package I am extremely happy so far.”

EDIT: I want to add more detail because l just can’t say enough nice things about this place. Sooo im going to wind back to the beginning. A couple months ago I began my serious researching tummy tuck journey. 1. I’m not a fan of general anesthesia unless absolutely necessary. 2. I wanted skin removal first and for most. 3. Reasonable cost. I got a quote for an OG tummy tuck in Bellevue and a sculpting quote from Bellevue. Both more than my custom Sono Bello quote. Also one of Sono Bellos biggest advertisements is that they only use local anesthetic. Check Mark. Lastly they now offer the “Abex” which is skin removal of the lower abdomen. Check mark. I have had 2 csections and could not get rid of my skin with diet or exercise. I was skeptical of a procedure that would work with such little down time an only local anesthetic. So I looked and looked at before and after photos and watch YouTube review. Everything thing I saw was impressive even the negative reviews had good results… ok so there’s my back story. I get to Sono Bello, I am seen on time. I am offered surgery next day!! Surgery day was a breeze as well you take your pain pills and chill pills and then go to operating room, get numbed an the surgeon gets to work. You can also ask questions why they work and they are all beyond polite. I was back to work the following day after surgery. That being said I do work from home, but I was very capable of sitting at a computer. I didn’t take any pain medication when I got home. I took Tylenol and Ibuprofen for 3 days and then stopped that. I am now one week post op an feel great, I just make sure to drink a gallon of water everyday. I will recommend this office to everyone!! And share my results.”

“The 2 stars are because the staff has been friendly and professional during every appointment. I had my waist, upper and lower abdomen done the week of Thanksgiving. The doctor told me "60% of patients experience some discomfort during the procedure." I cannot stress enough how excruciatingly painful the procedure was. The numbing medication did nothing for the pain. I was sent home after 15 minutes in recovery. I was also told during the initial consultation that the downtime would be 2 days. This is absolutely not true. I was able to return to work after 2 weeks. That's when the burning pain began. I called and explained the amount of pain and that it feels like the worst sunburn I've ever had. After several calls, I was told that "the doctor is stumped." It was recommended that I try 2 different types of over the counter creams. I have been massaging my stomach daily and trying different creams. Nothing is helping. I have noticed results in my physical appearance, but I have also drastically changed my diet and exercise. I may be happy with the results several months from now. But it's been over 9 weeks since the procedure and I'm in pain every day.”

Before my surgery, they made sure they answered any questions I may have had, and continuously gave me the opportunity to ask more. My procedure was about three months ago, and since about a month ago I've been getting Venus treatments to tighten and tone the skin and muscles underneath, and they are so pleasant. I got that and more with the amazing caring staff. From consult to the operating table I felt great about the decision I was making. I NEVER go to doctors because they always upsell and offer things you don’t need, for an elective surgery I thought this would for sure be the case. I felt heard and affirmed, decisions I made to wait on certain changes were supported and encouraged. Front desk staff, nurses, and the doctor were all amazing. I expected to be treated as an inconvenience and instead was treated like a member at a spa. A+ 110% by the Portland team. I recommend to anyone in the PNW to seek help here first. Kortnie is also amazing! She runs the Venus treatment, if you opt in to that I highly recommend you do, and ask for her. A+++”

“The bad: 1. When the consultant tells you there is no down time and you can return to work the next day, know that this may not be true for you. It wasnt for me. Maybe if you only get your chin done this might be true. I had abdomen , upper arms and under arm, upper bra roll done.
2 Consultant said, there's just a few tiny pokes in each area, they inject with lidocaine to numb everything, there will be a little drainage for a day or two. The pokes where they numb you is the worst part. It's relatively painless.
Here's the reality from my experience.
What seemed like 10 minutes after the lidocaine and fluid injections the Dr started procedure. It was painful. Like level 10 of 10 pain. By the time I got numb enough for it to not be painful he was nearly done. So I guess it actually took about 45 minutes for numbing to be effective.
I don't feel like my level of pain was of too much concern for staff. But I could be wrong.
Next problem. Compression garment didn't fit well, it was too small in arms and length. But they sent me home in it.
By day 4 my arms were in such pain from the too tight garment I had to cut the sleeves off. So now.. no compression on my painful arms. I can order on my own from a company for a properly fitted one.
Drainage, there's quite a lot of bloody drainage for 3 days. There is no way I could have returned to work the next day. Not even 3 days later. I'm on day 5 post surgery. I'm still too painful/bruised to return to work. If I had a desk job working at home.. maybe. I have to sleep on my back as it's too painful in any other position.
For the good part. All staff was very friendly, facility very clean, people answer the phone when you call. I can already see a big difference in my appearance and I think I will be happy with result after the swelling, bruising and pain dissipate. Dr. Explained difference between visceral and subQ fat and realistic results of liposuction, also the need to maintain healthy eating and exercise habits.
My suggestion to consultants. Don't tell people there is no down time and can return to work next day. And don't tell people it's nearly pain free procedure. Make sure compression garment fits well before surgery.
Update week 4 post surgery. Still having pain. Not severe. But not minimal either. Needing to take 600 MG ibuprofen twice a day. I was able to return to work at week 3. I work 12 hour shifts in health care.”

“I’m editing my review simply because I just had my revision procedure yesterday 9/7/22. I know that the difference in what doctor you have do the procedure is very important, my first procedure I had done was with Dr. Aghayan, I can honestly say that it was the worst experience I had ever had. Not only was it extremely more painful Which I understand he did a much larger area so I know that the pain will be more extreme, however his bedside manner and how rude he was to me during the procedure made it 10 times worse. Not only was I in so much pain I also had a Doctor who I could tell didn’t care at all that I was hurting. A little bit of kindness goes a long way when you’re in pain, my second procedure I had done with Dr Bensimon who is an amazing doctor. Of course there still was a bit of pain but when I let him know I was hurting he took the time to make me feel better and he cared and had compassion, those kind of things like I said go along way when you’re laying there in pain. So yes I definitely would recommend Sonobello to many people I would just recommend them staying away from the most unkind and uncaring doctor I’ve ever met Doctor Aghayan please take my advice and request any other doctor but him. PS Just got a follow up call from Dr. Bensimon again an amazing doctor and very caring big props to him. I read quite a few other reviews that made the statement that the doctor was very uncaring and basically could care less about their pain I can assure you there most likely also talking about Dr. Aghayan

The procedure went well and follow up appointments too. In between, receiving weekly instructions of where I should be during my recovery and what I needed to do helped alot. I do have a small spot on my abdomen that needs to be smoothed out and they suggested an ultrasound treatment to help with that at no extra cost. Care and treatment was very good, The only part I felt to improve on was the personal touch by the nurses( introducing themselves by name as they took you back and a little more direct feedback by them. “The initial process is very streamlined and effective. They follow up immediately after you request a consult. They are very good at communicating appointment times and directions. The front desk receptionist was wonderfully friendly and helpful. The person who helped me did not even bat an eyelash when I forgot to fill in a couple of spots on the intake paperwork.The office itself is very clean and well decorated.

I made it to my appointment I filled out the paperwork and proceeded to sit and wait for 30 minutes past my appointment time. As I sat there, I started to imagine myself post-op sitting and waiting in pain for 30-45 minutes and I decided it was not the level of service that I want for myself.

It seems like such a shame to have such an effective scheduling system only to have potential clients sit for 30-40 minutes past their appointment time. My time is very, very valuable. Everyone’s time is valuable.

As a local business owner myself, who offers free initial consultations, if my staff were making new clients wait for 30 to 40 minutes past their appointment time to be seen for the consult, I would definitely address it immediately. Not even my Providence neurosurgeon makes me wait that long to be seen.

I ended up getting stuck in rush-hour traffic for my 35 minute drive home and got home in a bad mood after wasting a good portion of my afternoon. On my way home I decided to just go ahead and work with an established surgeon in Lake Oswego.

I am looking to establish a solid relationship with a provider that can help me make my entire body what I want it to be, over time. So, a lack of respect for my time was not a good indication of a solid or long-term relationship.

I will repeat that the scheduling persons as well as the front desk reception were impeccable.

I give the front desk five stars as well as all of the people who made sure that I made it to my appointment. And I give zero stars to whoever was supposed to see that appointment through.

If you were thinking of going in for your initial consultation, be prepared to spend an extended amount of time waiting to be seen. I don’t think it’s necessary to arrive to your appointment 15 minutes early if they’re just going to make you wait an additional 30+ minutes on top of that. I would also highly recommend having multiple consultations with multiple providers so that you can get a feel for the level of service that you can expect from your provider. It’s very intimate and personal subject. Establishing a solid relationship upfront is extremely important.”

“Stop and read this before you meet with for the free consultation.
The free consultation is with a commissioned based sales agent. They will repeat the same sales pitch, almost sounding like a record player. They will tell you how they got the same areas done but somehow their results are stunningly different from what you get.
Yes, they will give you that “ special price for today only” . No refunds if you change your mind, even a better offer if you pay the whole amount. My advice, go home and think about it. Even get another estimate from another company.

If you are thinking of getting multiple areas done, do not tell the sales agent. Every state as a set amount of fat that can be removed in a single procedure so if you have more then 1 area, only make appointment for that only. I had 5 areas done, both arms, lower abdomen, upper abdomen and waist. I paid $1900 for each area. The arms look almost the same as before, the doctor at 3 months stated that he took out the amount needed. Question is how does everyone at the office who had the procedure done stated how it was a drastic difference?

The Revision they talk about at consultation if you are not happy with your result is made up. They make you wait 6 months and submit it to their board for review ( their own review board, not sure if they even exist) which would decide if they need to spend money giving the customer the result they were promised. Chances of the revision does not exist. Once they take your money, perform the procedure, not much you can do if you are not happy.
I told the lady at consultation how my arms were uneven, and that was my number one concern.
I am ashamed to tell anyone that I had lipo done on my arms because they look the same. The doctor even made them more uneven.

Be ready to wait, wait and wait.
I was called in at 2 for my procedure at 3 pm. I didn’t get started till 8 pm, getting home a little after midnight.
They sent me a $50 gift card to compensate me for waiting from 2 pm to 8pm. You are not to eat 2 hrs before your appointment, so there I was sitting from 12 to 8 pm, hungry before my nurse brought me some leftover pizza from the nurses station. The nurses are great but they are also overworked and don’t have much say.
Would I do this so called life changing procedure! NO, I wish I had walked out of that sales pitch and saved my $10000!

How do the doctors sleep at night? How does the sales agent make the pitch and take your hard earned money and not perform like your are promised?
They made me lose my trust in humanity, they are just making the money, changing peoples lives is at the bottom of their list.”

“Plastic surgery is a very personal and private decision. Anyone making that decision most likely has a major insecurity. From appt one I felt fat shamed by the doctor and the staff. I was more confident going in than when I left. I had complications that include necrosis and almost one year later I am left deformed, lumpy, misshapen, and still in pain. I could go back for the revision they promised but I am not comfortable with the way they treated me and the poor quality of work. I took out a very large loan for this procedure and will have to take a large loan to get it fixed. I do not recommend.”

“After years of planning and saving, research and patience, I chose Sono Bello and made the appointment for my consultation. My husband and I took the time off work and arrived 30 minutes early. We completed the paperwork and waited, and waited and waited. 25 minutes after my appointment time, I asked when we were going to be seen. I was told they did not know but were messaging the back. 10 minutes I checked again and was told any minute. Another 10 minutes and we walked out. I told the receptionist they just lost my business and no efforts were made to stop me. On the way home, I got a call saying they were awfully sorry and would give me $500 off my procedures. I explained that punctuality was very important as I made the effort to arrive ahead of time. I simply have to be able to trust this company with my life and they have shown my business is not at all a priority to them so my health certainly is not important. I am a nurse and expect a certain professionalism which they failed the most basic level. My time, my body, my money to them is disposable. Sorry is not going to cut it. I am taking my thousands and thousand elsewhere and would absolutely NOT recommend them to anyone. My search continues. Don't settle people. Expect a commitment to be reciprocal.”

It's now been about one year since my procedure and I have downgraded this rating. I have done so because they don't exactly tell the truth when they sell you the service. They claim your fat cells will be "gone forever" but that's really stretching the truth quite a bit. For me, the truth is, a person has to be very careful even after the procedure to stay on a strict diet and watch what you are doing.....otherwise the fat cells come right back, over time. This is something they don't tell a person in the sales presentation. They wait until the day of procedure to give you a stern talking to about future diet. And this is after they have your money and it's too late to back out.
For me personally, I wasted Thousands of Dollars on this procedure! For me, I've been a large person all of my life. It hardly makes sense that I would change my diet overnight based on a fat removal procedure. Shame on me for believing the hype they give you in the sales presentation.”

“As with most things in life, objectively speaking, there are positives and negatives. However, I would say my over all experience with Sono Bello Portland was positive.

The front desk ladies and everyone that communicated with me via phone were very helpful and professional. Returned calls were timely too.

From the beginning of my experience which maybe very different from the average due to my long history of Psoriatic arthritis and generally more inflammation.
The surgeon was pleasant, but I only saw him for a short consultation and the day of the surgery. I clearly remember parts of my procedure. The area around my ribs woke me up and felt like fire.

The week after my procedure was miserable. I was warned that I would weep a lot of fluid from my insertion sites. However, I did not expect to saturate pads within 1-2 hours. It was so painful and exhausting changing dressings. I was so thankful for my husband because I needed help, I fainted three times and he caught me.

After the first week I started to feel a little bit better, but realized I had formed an abdominal seroma that needed to be drained three times. I faithfully wore my post op body suit for three months, every single day.

I went in trying to have realistic expectations and think my outcome was mostly what I pictured. With my 6 month appointment I was under the impression that I would see my surgeon again to discuss results and if any touch ups were needed. I ended up being seen by a nurse. I let her know my areas of concern and she stated that she would put notes in my chart and I could schedule a special appointment with a doctor to see if any of my concerns are reasonable for a touch up procedure.

So that is where I am at now. I have been reassured multiple times that Sono Bello will do what they can to ensure my satisfaction.

If you made it to the end of this post...I'd say there was no horrible thing that happened, but multiple small areas that could have been better (more contact with the physician and more sedation during the procedure would be my top 2). Plus, I have nothing to compare my experience too.”

“I’ve been to Portland’s Sono Bello a handful of times in the last month!

My first visit was as the caregiver for a friend doing a full body procedure. I also attended her first follow up. I was already very impressed with the super friendly and down to earth staff, and the gorgeous office setting... but once I saw her AMAZING results, I booked a consultation for myself!

Upon arriving for the consultation, I was asked to fill out A LOT of paperwork. Hello, thorough! When talking about a procedure that would forever change my body, I LOVE how attentive they are to every detail.

I was called back to a consultation room by a warm and welcoming woman named Shab. Within probably 30 seconds of beginning our conversation, we found out that a medical diagnosis of mine unfortunately disqualified me from the potential of having any procedures done at Sono Bello.

I was bummed... but there was nothing Sono Bello could do for me, so I thanked Shab and stood to leave. Although it was impossible for me to become a Sono Bello patient, Shab took the time to refer me to an outside clinic that specializes in procedures on patients with the medical condition that I face. What?! Of course I wanted a referral!

Shab and the Sono Bello team truly care about each individual patient. I’ve read so many reviews of competing clinics that repeatedly mention feeling like you’re in a factory line, or just a number. That is NOT AT ALL the case here.

As I was again getting ready to leave, I thanked Shab and mentioned I’d write down a list of questions for when I go to the other clinic. She literally said, “Oh, well you’re already here, do you have any questions I could answer?”

And in fact, I totally did!! She was freaking fantastic. I had a handful of questions about differing procedures... lipo in general, not Sono Bello specific. She was so thorough and helped me so much!

I truly wish I could get my procedure done here. Everyone made me so comfortable every time I’ve been in, and all for differing reasons.

If you’re debating on where to go for your procedure, choose Sono Bello! It’s absolutely the right choice :)”

“Quick Appointment- Great Results!

I was thrilled to discover that Sono Bella was open when I called. They gave me a consultation appointment immediately and soon after, scheduled the pre-op and surgery. I was surprised to see that the person who did my consultation wasn’t medically credentialed (no professional medical acronyms, e.g., RN, LVN, etc.), but she was able to explain the process and cost to me. The personnel were wonderful: kind, patient, and friendly. I especially enjoyed talking to Cheryl who was knowledgeable of the process and helped to allay some concerns regarding post-surgery administrative steps like where my son needed to go to pick me up. The surgeon, Dr. Aghayan, was personable, down-to-earth, and sincere in how he explained the procedures to me. “My complaint is due to a hospitalization as a result of procedure completed at Sono Bello. During the pre-evaluation, I indicated that I have a sensitivity to anesthesia and the doctor acknowledged he was aware, and this would not be a problem for the procedure.
The procedure took place February 27, 2020. Prior to the procedure I again informed them of the anesthesia sensitivity, and they acknowledged the concern. The procedure proceeded and was to last approximately 2 hours. The procedure started at 12:22PM. When completed they would inform my husband and he could be with me during recovery. The procedure was completed at 14:50 but my husband was not informed until he called in at approximately 1600 and informed of my status. They had him come into a room where I was sitting unresponsive for approximately the past two hours. At 1700 they decided to send me to the hospital via ambulance.
At the hospital, I was given several doses of medication to reverse the effects of the anesthesia with little response. I woke the next morning at approximately 7:00AM. I was not released from the hospital until Sunday.
We went to Sono Bello 7.22.2020 for a clinical follow up and to discuss the situation to find out what resolution we may have for recovering the monies we incurred for the hospitalization. As soon as my husband asked about this the Clinical Manager said, “you signed a consent, and we have no responsibility”. At that time, we got up and walked out because they obviously were not willing to acknowledge the situation and provide a resolution.”

The Results: One word. Amazing. I chose to lipo my Abs, Waist and Inner Thighs Dr. Aric Aghayan (or Dr. A as I like to call him) was a miracle worker. He had a great partner in Yvette Guzman LPN. Together they worked magic. I cannot begin to tell you how transformed my body is. Funny, three months in, I haven't really lost that much weight, maybe 15 lbs but the inches I've lost are insane. Best way to describe is with pictures. I'm attaching them to this review. Really great work! I highly recommend. If you are on the fence, Do it! You will wish you did it sooner.
Couple of things to note: 1. Invest in a compression garnment once the ones they give you are too loose. I ordered a smaller one from the same brand that Sono Bello provided. I wore that garnment for 2 and a half months before I just couldn't stand it anymore. 2. MOVE. You have to move as much as possible. The first two weeks I was logging 20,000 steps a day because my body was antsy. When I didn't move for a good amount of time, I noticed I was a lot more sore. 3. Take lots of pictures and your measurments. It's hard to get perspective otherwise. Weighing yourself will not give you the validation of just how much your body is changing.

“Absolutely the worst. $8,000 later and the results were so bad you couldn't tell the difference between before and after. I complained and they offered me a procedure that wasn't approved. The Dr who performed my procedure is no longer there.

And really, the commercials. Who do you know that gets lypo on their tummy and their face, arms etc. also get smaller. These are diet models!

I'm guessing the 5 star ratings are posted by the Dr.s and their friends. Two employees said they receive multiple complaints and they only have one licensed Dr. in a region.

“I cannot say enough good things about the PORTLAND SONOBELLO TEAM! First off, on my consultation day I was greeted by this very kind and friendly staff name Cheryl. Then I met with the consultant by the name of Shaab and let me tell you, this beautiful lady had answered ALL of my questions and concerns and is a straight up, genuine person, professional and knowledgeable! She helped me every step of the way and is a very honest person. And what I meant by honest is... All other consultants I’ve ever met has always want to make money and wouldn’t tell you the truth and don’t care, BUT SHAAB would tell me straight up that I shouldn't do this one area (and laughed about it because they’re no fat there to suck out) but instead use it for an area that’s needed. I was just testing her and she PASSED!!! Then shortly after I was taking back to do my pre-op and met with Nurse Jennifer and Oxy to take my photos, vitals, weight and etc. Once again very nice and friendly! And soon after I met with my Dr. Lewis and he is AWESOME! I’ll admit I was really nervous at first but after talking to him, I can tell he’s very knowledgeable and skilled. He’s down to earth, and most importantly, he truly listened to me.

On the day of my surgery I was so nervous! Came in the office and seeing the beautiful smile on Cheryl made me feel a lot better. She greeted me and tell me it’ll be okay. Very sweet lady! Then I was called back by Nurse Stephanie and once again a very sweet lady that would chat with me and made me feel at ease. She answered all my concerns and questions as well! And made me laugh a few times too. Last but not least I met with Dr. Lewis. He made sure everything is prepared for the surgery and did his drawings and answering my concerns as well. I like talking to Dr. Lewis because he talks to you like a friend not like a client. Can you believe I was awake the whole time of my surgery chatting away??? Yep! Sure did! And thank you Stephanie for holding my hand the whole way through! You guys are AWESOME!!!

“This place is horrible!!! I was so excited for this appointment and was ready to purchase a package. I arrived early to my appointment. The sales lady came out late and called my name. She called me over like one would call out to a dog. I thought it was odd and even mentioned it to my husband. I decided to just ignore that because I really wanted the procedure. Once we got back to her office she was so rude and condescending that I had to leave the initial consultation. We contacted the manager who told us that the sales lady had completely made a story about my husband forcing me to be there. She clearly said that to cover up her horrible behavior because she treated us so horribly. The manager told us we could come back and see a different sales person. No apology, no promise that this women will receive discipline or even customer service training.
That was how they chose to handle this. This women was horrible! I hate to mention I am in a interracial marriage but the way this women treated me was so bad that I am racking my mind trying to figure out why.
I am so sick of large companies just treating people like a number because they monopolize an industry. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!”

“My liposuction and skin removal was great. After a few weeks I had lost 26 pounds. My tummy is flat again and the excess skin is gone.

There was a small area that did not heal as it should have and it made a cherry size bump on my left hip. When I went for my 6 month appointment, my aftercare nurse asked Dr Aghayan to look at the small area. He fixed it a couple of weeks later. Cat the surgery nurse was congenial during my fix. “I am 38 years old and a mother of 5 children. Over the course of the 5 pregnancies I had developed a fatty flap at the bottom of my abdomen. No loose skin just fat. And even after getting back down to my prepregnancy weight, I couldn't get rid of it. So I looked at a few places and decided to go with sono bello. I went for my consultation and the staff was very nice and professional. I didn't sit in the waiting area for a long time waiting to see my nurse or the surgeon. And that told me that they didn't over book their clients and my procedure wouldn't be a rush job. I didn't have the money to pay up front for the procedure and they helped me with that to. My surgeon went over the procedure with me and told me that I should be realistic about my results. At first I was worried but Jennifer my consultant was very helpful in reassuring me that I had one of the best plastic surgeons aboard. He had the best bed side manor imaginable. And being a nurse myself, it really made a difference. He discussed the risk of the procedures and instructed me to get cleared by my cardiologist before the procedure could be done. The day of my procedure I arrived a little early and I was taken to the back immediately. I was greeted by my nurse and my surgeon. He drew on my stomach and asked me if I was ready. I was so nervous. I don't remember how long the procedure took. I fell asleep during the procedure. When I woke up we were done. The nurse put a abdominal binder on me and said everything went well. She was very gentle with me during and after the procedure. She gave my caregiver excellent instructions about how to mange pain and to make sure I continued to Take my antibiotics. I wasnt in pain right away but the next day I really felt it. My caregiver helped me with my bath the next day and when she took off my binder it was breath taking. I had curves again!!. She looked at me and said you look so sexy right now. Even with the swelling l was satisfied with the results. She had the same surgery done a couple of years ago in the Dominican republic and she had multiple areas of hard scar tissue. She said"your results are so good,I wish I had your surgeon." “So my story begins with menopause, I am 59 years old I watch what I eat and work out 4-5 days a week. I started to notice my mid section expanding no matter what I did diet or exercise. I went into the doctors for my physical and was told that once you hit age 55 this is what happens to your body and basically there was nothing I could do. “I was not prepared for how painful and long lasting recovery would be. The swelling and discomfort was minimized in initial description. The explanation being that everyone heals differently when I experienced more pain and longer discomfort than I expected. This was not a minor procedure, as I had falsely perceived. I was in no way able to get back to work in three days as projected. I missed a week and went back to work with serious discomfort and fatigue into the second week. I feel the Dr. and staff were supportive and caring, but I would not recommend this procedure to anyone if asked. It is so much more painful and requires so much more time to heal than I realized it would. I think the amount of fat removed and number of areas treated made this more difficult for me. Other people probably have experienced a quicker recovery.”

“I had liposuction of my abdomen, waist, and flanks with Dr. Malin, a board-certified plastic surgeon. I am so beyond happy with the care I received and with my results. The surgery was six months ago, and it's true, the results keep getting better with time as your body heals and your skin tightens up. I went from feeling frumpy, lumpy, chubby, bumpy, rocking that economy-sized muffin top all the time, to now feeling like a curvy bombshell. Clothes fit better. I am more confident naked (important in Portland, with the naked bike ride and all! lol).

I met Dr. Malin during my pre-op consultation - that's the visit where they draw all over you - and I was encouraged by his amiability and professionalism. It was important to me that my doctor be board-certified, so Dr. Malin's certification put me at ease. There were also some great reviews of him on realself.com, an online forum for people interested in talking to others freely about plastic surgery and other cosmetic procedures. On the day of the surgery, I was given diazepam and something else (the memory is hazy, as you might imagine) to keep me sedated but not generally anesthetized. I felt nothing and remember nothing from the procedure. In fact, my first memory after the procedure is from hours later, when my friend who took me home was hanging out in my apartment with me, just making sure I was ok. On the first day my results looked amazing, and then (as I was told to expect) the swelling set in. I went back to work on post-op day four. Personally, if I had a more sedentary job, that would have been fine, but I have an active job and I would have benefited from another day of rest. I made it through, though! The swelling lessened dramatically about one week after the procedure, but it persisted a little bit for a couple months. I lived in maxi dresses.

I came to Sono Bello for all my scheduled post-op appointments. I was surprised that I didn't really lose any weight - maybe two pounds total? But think about what a pound of butter looks like - that was basically removed from the areas I disliked on my body. 100% worth it. My scars have healed really nicely. They're visible but they look no bigger or darker than, say, an acne scar, and they'll still lighten up with time. I started dating someone new after the procedure and he didn't even notice the scars until I showed him. When I told him I had liposuction, I was concerned what he would think, but he just said "whatever makes you happy." So for anyone worrying about what people would think of you if you had a cosmetic procedure: anyone worth your time will respect the decisions you make about your body, especially when you're trying to feel better about yourself.

Most importantly to me, my results affected more than my physical appearance. Since I was young I've always struggled with my body image, and that kind of self-consciousness sometimes permeated into the other things I do. Since having liposuction, some of that self-consciousness has simply fallen away. Is my body perfect now? No! But taking a dramatic step to change something about my body that diet and exercise never could, and then needing to be kind and nurturing to myself while I healed, changed something in me and now I have this attitude of generous acceptance of myself and my body. I don't think people realize that a cosmetic procedure can have this kind of effect on somebody, but it's really proven an amazing turning point for me.

Bottom line: if you're thinking about it, I recommend it! Dr. Malin and his team will take really great care of you.”

“I went to them a few times. It is important to do your research on the doctor. They are just a facility that allow doctors from the areas to do their medical procedures at their clinic. I wasn't happy with my first doctor but my second doctor was great. This isn't a perfect science and if you have body dysmorphia then you might want to really think about how you will or won't feel after the procedure. A lot of people rush to think their bodies will turn slender immediately but it takes time for the swelling to go down and healing to happen. They are staffed with the appropriate medical people that will help with realized problems. I had a seroma from the body garment not fitting properly but they were able to drain it and it healed just fine. I am thinking about going back for my chin. Also, it is advantageous to go back to the same facility because you don't have to pay the surgical facility fee anymore. As far as the other reviews I see on here... the sales team is exceptional. No one is pointing a gun at your head as far as what package(s) you choose. They have personal experience as patients and know what they are talking about. They bring the doctor in if necessary. You will have a consultation with the doctor too. I hope this helps!”

“I had read a number of Yelp reviews and hesitated to book a consultation at Sono Bello because of some poorly rated ones. Yet, Sono Bello had a special whereby you could have one liposuction treatment area done for free when you paid for 3 other areas, so I decided to see for myself. I was completely "sold" after my consultation with Nicole Bradshaw, the practice leader. I didn't experience her as a salesperson however, I experienced her as someone who sincerely cared, and offered a solution to a problem, so to speak. I eat modestly, have no processed foods of any kind in my diet, work closely with a nutritionist and exercise most days of the a week. Yet, I had some areas of extra fat that I clearly could not have reduced or removed with diet and exercise alone; one of which was there since I was a child. I trusted Nicole intuitively and sensed that she would oversee my experience to ensure it was a positive one. My intuition has served me very well. Nicole has really extended herself to me and has spent a fair amount of time on the phone and in person at the clinic every step of the way. I am just shy of the 3 week mark post op and the recovery was easier than I feared. I wouldn't characterize it as easy, but definitely do-able. I didn't take any narcotics after the procedure, and after the first week, I started to feel much more comfortable. Since I am considerably less inflamed and swollen at this point, I can already see some results, and am quite pleased overall. There may be some areas that Dr. Malin "touches up" complimentary with an additional treatment in 6 months, which is one of the reasons I chose Sono Bello. They will ensure that the final results are as anticipated and hoped for, within reason, of course. I had feedback to offer Nicole about what I think could have improved my experience in a couple of ways and she was very receptive.
I think every staff member sincerely cares, and I have felt well supported. I know that they've celebrated in my results so far as well. I am very excited to see where I will be at the 3 month mark post op and may add to my review at that point. I only wish I had done this sooner. I had considered it for years! My inclination was to keep this experience private, and not to write a public review, however I really wanted others who may hesitate due to some of the poor reviews, to read mine. I definitely would recommend that anyone who has an interest schedule a consultation and see for themselves before they are scared off by some of the 1 star reviews.
Update - I also wanted to add, please keep in mind that poor reviews don't necessarily reveal the whole story, and Sono Bello can't offer a "rebuttal" or share their perspective because of their commitment to patient privacy. Also, there are a number of hidden reviews here on Yelp that helped me decide to have a consultation.
Update - I wanted to write an update on my first review since I've now not only had liposuction twice, but experienced the Venus treatments and have had a Sono Bello Lift as well. I have transformed in ways that has left me so much more comfortable and confident in my own skin, and I am so deeply appreciative to all the staff and physicians at Sono Bello. As a repeat customer many times over now, I continue to be extremely pleased with my overall experience. There have been a few concerns that have come up for me, but Candace Loyd who now overseas the clinic has ensured that they were all addressed in a way I am satisfied with. In addition, she has taken the time to support my recovery every step of the way. I have really appreciated her sincere care about my experience, and her desire for me to have a positive one. I think both Dr. Malin who performed my liposuction and Dr. Campanelli who performed my Lift are very skilled, kind and supportive and I appreciate the care I've received from each of them. Ellisha Leal who administers the Venus treatments advocated for me to have it done on my stomach, as well as neck and arms, post liposuction, and I am so happy I added my stomach to the line up. We've seen very clear results, as my skin is much more toned and firm than the liposuction alone resulted in. I recommend her as a skilled and supportive practitioner as well. The staff at Sono Bello of Portland have really extended themselves to me in so many ways and I continue to recommend the clinic wholeheartedly. I really look forward to my visits as I truly love to connect with the very warm and friendly staff.

“Went in for a consultation to see if I could afford it. (I couldn’t really) but got looked at by what appeared to be a head receptionist and not a Dr. She said it would be easy to remove my “kind of fat.” I needed time to think but she was a bit annoyed by that and couldn’t guarantee the price wouldn’t go up. I should have left, but I was feeling very vulnerable after having this beautiful woman investigating my fat. So I did it. It’s not at all like the commercials. They barely took anything out, didn’t do the upper area like we had discussed. You wear a compression garment for a couple weeks, so you don’t see it the next day like they say. Now after a few years, it’s back, lumpy and I won’t wear a 2-piece because of it. They offer a “touch up” but that would have been another $3k. No thanks, given how it looked the first time. Just work out so your fat won’t look weird. I took the lazy way out from being depressed about my boxy figure.”

“I paid over $9000 and I feel that my body is worse than it was before. One of the areas I paid to have done was my lower abdomen but now it appears puffier than before. I inquired about it but they dismissed me. I am so disappointed in how that area of my body turned out and that they just dismissed the problem. I paid so much money and I'm more self conscious now than I was before. Some areas are better but with the way my lower abdomen is, I can't wear certain clothes or it looks horrible. “The staff was friendly enough and the doctor was nice; however, I wouldn’t recommend this program to anyone else. Our initial consultation was with a salesperson, not a medical professional. She really emphasized the deals they were offering and talked me into getting more than I really wanted because the price was right. We had to pay all of our fee before seeing the doctor and the paperwork indicated the refund was less than 100% if you changed your mind. I ended up having five areas worked on, the difference in one (that I wanted when I went in) is not too bad. The second area I wanted turned out about how the doctor described but well below what was sold in the consultation. The other three areas I had done based on the promotion at the time have a negligible difference. I mentioned this at each follow-up and they said it would take a full year. I’m over a year out now and still feel like they overcharged, oversold and underdelivered. Results aside, the care was there. It’s kind of a scary process having work like this done and they did all they could to mitigate that and make sure I was comfortable the whole time. I appreciated the doctor nurses during and immediately following the procedure. Had I known then what I know now, though, I would have gone somewhere else.”

“I thought I was too old to make the changes I wanted in my body, but…. at 63 I can tell everyone that it is never too late to take steps to improve your body, which of course, improves your mind! The procedure was a breeze! The physician and staff were awesome. They took the time to manage my expectations from start to finish. “Starting from financial process, it was invasive as if I couldn't be trusted...they wanted 4 different family and friend contacts "if I couldn't be found to pay my bill". In the Operating room, after I was given a "light sedatation" (it was anything but light-i was powerless to stay awake or have a choice to speak, act or think for myself) I felt the steal rod go in my side and with very abrasive and fast strokes, felt the rid go back and forth. I fell asleep and remember waking up to my sternum being abruptly hit several times and I remember crying and "coming to" saying ouch ouch ouch over and over and the surgeon didn't stop tight away. I don't remember much after that. The pain pill was too intoxicating and made me nausea. I threw it out after only receiving a two day supply. I called and they replaced it with another pill, but only one and a 1/2 day supply. I was told they needed to see me to make sure everything was ok. I was extremely bruised, swollen, sore and I was told to take Aleve for my pain and was not given any narcotic pain releiver beyond 10 pills for my severe pain. I hold 10-12 hour days a work...and I was told to take Aleve. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I've had 5 live, natural births and I was given more relief after than this horribly painful experience. If i can help detour anyone out there to find a better doctor and doctors office who is more loving, kind and gracious than this location...then I've helped by writing my experience.”

“I came to sono bello, for my health. I was at 38% BMI. I knew I had to make the choice for myself, if I wanted a full life or to be a victim of my own health. I actually teared up talking to shab and DR Saxon. This is MY body, MY health, MY life!!! I need to get back into control. I knew this wasn't a "quick" fix, but it was MY new beginning. “Im a single mom of 2 kids. Im busy with work and kids and unfortunately put on some weight. I also have some lower back pain. The Sonobello in Portland was awesome! All of the staff were nice and pleasant and seemed to enjoy their job. I made a consultation and Shab was amazing. She answered all my questions and helped me and made me feel comfortable with my choices. Dr. Saxon and Cherie are an AWESOME team! I couldn't have asked for anyone better. I was so nervous, but they put me at ease and explained everything, they were joking and down to earth and just made me feel really comfortable. The procedure itself wasn't that bad. I didn't know what to expect. I just read reviews online. The meds worked well and I barely felt anything 9/10 for pain. Afterwards though is a little different. Its what I expected, soreness, swelling and pain. I had lower and upper abs, hips and waist done. I had a lot of fat to get rid of, so more pain and swelling. I had it done on Wed and was in the office on Fri. Even the follow up care nurse, Kristen was great. Its only been a week after the procedure, but so far Im loving the results! I look down and just see my boobs, no belly... Its great!! I cant wait to see what it looks like with no swelling. This is something that Ive thought about for such a long time. I wish I wouldve done it sooner. My experience was wonderful and I would do it again. I highly recommend it. If you've ever thought about, just do it or at least make a consultation appointment! My right inner thigh was so much bigger then the left that I was totally self conscious and for the last 15+ years I have worn long shirts to mask my thigh and men board shorts if I went swimming. I also had work done on my whole stomach area. They removed the shelf that was always above my waist band. It also made wearing a dress impossible. “Since last fall I have lost 65 pounds. But I still have a roll around my middle and I want it gone!!!! I really haven't considered lipo very long, but after seeing the before and after pictures on this site and finding out that I could finance it, I decided very quickly to do it. I went to Sonobello and have been very pleased with their professionalism and their readiness to respond to my many questions. I am having upper and lower abdomen and sides done. My weight is 148 now. I really want to get under 142 so that my BMI will be in the normal range. Also my waist circumference is 36 which I know is unhealthy, besides just looking bad.
I have not seen many older women posting to this site and I'm not sure why, but I must say that I am 60 years old. Since losing the 65 lbs I do feel better about myself and I look better in clothes but I want more. The woman at Sonobello said that the max that the surgeon can take off someone my size is about 7 lbs. and that it would address about 70-80% of the fat. I will be very happy with that result!!
I'm not too worried about the procedure itself. I think the draining will be a bit of a drag but happily it won't last long. I'm not looking forward to living in a compression garment, especially in the middle of summer, but that is such a minor inconvenience. Maybe I will be surprised and it will be hard, but my mind is made up that I will sail through this to the other side. I will meet the surgeon in a week. The salesperson ( who was very helpful and informative) said that he is aggressive at removing the maximum fat, which made me happy. The Sonobello enterprise seems well run and like they really have the details all figured out, so I have confidence in them. I can't wait for August 5 to be here!!!!”
